A two-minute way to ask the Mayor and Council to postpone the Leschi South Marina construction until after summer.

Seattle Parks' Leschi South Marina rebuild is happening through 2026, and the phased parking and access closures are landing right in the middle of the summer season — the months that keep BluWater and its staff afloat for the rest of the year. We've laid out the project details on our Leschi construction page.

Dear Mayor Wilson and Members of the Seattle City Council,

I'm writing as a customer and member of the Leschi community to ask that the Leschi South Marina construction project be postponed until after the summer season.

The phased parking-lot closures and construction barriers along the Leschi waterfront are putting BluWater Bistro — and the staff who depend on it — in a very difficult position. Summer is the most critical period of the year for a waterfront restaurant, and access disruptions during these months threaten the viability of a long-standing neighborhood business.

It is my understanding that the project's permit conditions required meaningful mitigation of impacts on adjacent businesses and the public, and that those conditions have not been satisfactorily met. I'd ask that the City pause the work until after Labor Day so that Parks, the contractor, BluWater, and the Leschi community can collaborate on an approach that preserves access during peak season.
